Spring is finally be here but it appears the winter weather is not over yet as a powerful blizzard is expected to dump heavy snow on parts of the Midwest and West Coast today. The National Weather Service has also issued freeze warnings across much of the Southeast. In Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, a freeze warning is in effect until around 8 a.m. local time on Friday as temperatures are expected to plunge as low as 26 degrees.
What to know The storm system is expected to bring heavy snowfall and challenging travel conditions across portions of the country. The NWS has issued winter storm warnings for parts of Michigan and Wisconsin, as well as Oregon and Washington on the West Coast. In Oregon, in parts of the Cascades, the NWS forecasts total snow accumulations up to 15 inches, with up to 20 inches above 5,000 feet, and winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
