Treelay is the 24-hour tree planting event that started on Friday and is continuing all of Saturday.

For 24 hours, volunteers in Lancaster planted trees to spread awareness about the important role that trees play. On Saturday there were around 60 volunteers who got down and dirty, and planted the day away. Treelay was a 24-hour tree-planting event that started on Friday and continued until Saturday at 5 p.m.Their goal, other than planting thousands of trees, was to encourage as many volunteers as possible. They wanted to spread awareness of the important role that trees play in our region.

Treelay volunteers planted trees at seven sites in total, six of which were in Pennsylvania and one was in Maryland.'It's going to take a lot more work to get there, we have a lot more trees to plant, a lot more conservation practices to implement, but luckily, we have the funding and community support and a lot of people that are passionate about doing this in the community,' said PA Forest Projects coordinator, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Jim Kauffman.
