A pre-inquest hearing into the Wieambilla shooting, which claimed six lives and is now deemed a terrorist attack, has been opened by the state coroner.
State Coroner Terry Ryan will investigate how Nathaniel, Gareth and Stacey Train gunned down three people at their property near Tara, about 3½ hours west of Brisbane, on December 12.
The Trains were killed by tactical police later that day after a six-hour siege at the remote property. Counsel assisting Ruth O’Gorman told the court there was great public interest in the shooting, which shocked the community.Advertisement Police also discovered Stacey’s diary, which had entries dating back years, with detectives believing there were catalysts before the attack, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, global conflicts, and social disparity.
