. “We are going to do it, but we’re going to do it in a way where it makes sense for us and for our listeners. The industry changed and we had to adapt.”
Söderström added that the company was still trying to work out the financials of the HiFi offering. “We want to do it in a way where it works for us from a cost perspective as well. I’m not allowed to comment on our label agreements, nor on what other players in the industry did, for obvious reasons,” he said. In October last year a Spotify survey suggested it was considering charging $19.99 for the feature.
Meanwhile, a single subscription to Spotify’s current premium tier has been priced at $9.99 in the US since its original launch in the country,
