Sports Illustrated is publishing a special edition meant to empower girls in sports, and a 12-year-old para-athlete from San Antonio will be featured. Noelani Spicer , a seventh-grader at Advanced Learning Academy , will appear among nine other preteen athletes from across the country in the first-ever Sports reIllustrated in March.
'My coach told me that if I just follow my dreams, I can keep training and doing competitions,' Spicer told KSAT last September. 'And probably break some national records, like I did last year and this year.' Spicer has been been doing track since age 5, Greg Spicer told KSAT. She couldn't compete for a couple years while she had surgeries, but she's ramped up in the past two years, and she hopes to one day compete in the Paralympics.
