as the Holy Cross Crusaders met the Walter Murray Marauders in the 5A boys’ final at the Hoopla high school provincial basketball championship in Prince Albert on Saturday.as the Crusaders defeated the Marauders 99-75 to claim the title.

On the girls’ 5A side, Regina Riffel won the title with an 81-57 win against Harvest City, while Saskatoon city champ St. Joseph finished fourth, and Holy Cross and the Centennial Crusaders both lost in the quarterfinals. The remaining girls’ finals saw Moose Jaw Vanier defeat Lumsden 74-50 in 4A, Wynyard win 61-55 against Lanigan in 3A, Regina Laval claim a 51-43 victory over Wilkie in 2A, and Lake Lenore earn a 50-45 win against Gladmar in 1A.

In the other two series, the Estevan Bruins won 2-1 in overtime on Friday to take a 3-2 lead in their series against the Flin Flon Bombers, as did the Melfort Mustangs in their series against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.The Saskatoon Stars and the Regina Rebels are meeting in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League best-of-three final.

Saskatoon won their best-of-three semifinal series 2-0 over Swift Current Wildcats, while Regina defeated Notre Dame 2-1.A 4-2 victory on Saturday over the Regina Pat Canadians helped the Saskatoon Blazers to tie their best-of-five Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League final series at one a piece.The news seems to be flying at us faster all the time.
