Cassidy Hayward pocketed a 55th minute goal that stood as the game winner for the Huskies, who improve to 4-2-3 on the season. Nadia Kalyar surrendered just one goal in each game, picking up six saves on Friday and another two on Saturday to earn the back-to-back wins in net. In men’s soccer action the Huskies were shut out by the same 4-0 score twice over the weekend, first losing to UNBC in Prince George on Friday when Michael Henman had a hat trick for the Timberwolves. Then host UBC defeated the Huskies 4-0 on Sunday. The Huskies fall to 1-6-2 and will need to pick up some points to get themselves into a playoff position.Article content In hockey action, the Huskies dropped a pair of pre-season men’s exhibition hockey games in Calgary, losing 5-2 to the Dinos on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday. In women’s exhibition hockey the host Huskies lost 3-1 to the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday before bouncing back with a 1-0 win at home over the Alberta Pandas on Saturday. In women’s volleyball pre-season action it was the Huskies losing 3-1 to UBC on Friday, 3-0 to Mount Royal on Saturday and 3-1 to Calgary on Sunday. All three matches were played in Calgary.
