Ethan Peck discusses working with Lower Decks' Jack Quaid on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 and reveals their adorable 'Spoimler' nickname.

Spock actor Ethan Peck so enjoyed working with Jack Quaid as Ensign Bradward Boimler on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 that the two actors were dubbed "Spoimler" by a Trek legend. The crossover between Star Trek: Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds is one of the most anticipated episodes of season 2, and fans got their first glimpse of live-action Boimler in the latest Strange New Worlds season 2 trailer.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT At the press junket for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, Screen Rant took part in a roundtable interview with Paul Wesley and Ethan Peck. Paul Wesley confirmed that Kirk is not in the Lower Decks crossover, while Ethan Peck talked about what it was like to work with Jack Quaid on the hotly-anticipated episode.

Ethan Peck: I met Jack a few years ago at a convention, and we had such a nice connection right off the bat. I remember thinking at that time, I'd love to work with this guy. He's also from LA, we just share a lot of similar context. And it was so much fun working with him. Jonathan Frakes, who directed the episode, coined us "Spoimler," which is a hybrid of our names Spock and Boimler. And that just made me so happy to have this joke with Jonathan Frakes, who I just revere.

Jonathan Frakes, the director of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 7, "Those Old Scientists" has previously revealed that the episode is an out-and-out comedy. Strange New Worlds has never been afraid of comedy, and season 1 added "Spock Amok" and "The Elysian Kingdom" to the pantheon of classic Star Trek comedy episodes.
