All good things must come to an end. These are some of the great Australian festivals that have been cancelled or gone on hiatus in the last decade.
Artists are devastated after Splendour in the Grass was cancelled days after tickets went on sale. It is the latest in a long line of Australian music festival cancellations, as costs surge and ticket sales dwindle. The annual music festival, which is held at the North Byron Parklands in Yelgun, NSW, was due to be staged from 19 to 21 July. Tickets went on sale on 21 March, with Australian pop superstar Kylie Minogue among the artists set to perform.
After obtaining full ownership of the festival, American promoters C3 Presents announced there would be no Big Day Out in 2015 . While C3 kept the door open for the Big Day Out's return, saying it intended to bring it back "in future years", there's been no indication that will happen any time soon.
