Spider-Noir: A New Era of Marvel's Spider-Man
Spider-Noir, Prime Video, Marvel

Spider-Noir is a Prime Video series set in the 1930s Marvel universe, where the protagonist is Nicolas Cage's The Spider. The show introduces a brand-new villain and a familiar one from the comics, giving The Spider some terrifying foes to go up against.

Spoiler Alert: This list contains spoilers for Spider-Noir Season 1. Spider-Noir has officially dropped on Prime Video and people are actually having an incredibly fun time with it.

The 1930s era of the Marvel universe is a joy to explore, especially with Nicolas Cage at the forefront of the series, having the time of his life playing The Spider. What's even more fun about exploring this new universe is seeing how it adapts Spider-Man villains.

Whether they're a brand-new character created specifically for Spider-Noir, or a character from the comics everyone knows and loves, this Prime Video series is doing a great job giving The Spider some nasty foes to go up against. The 1930s hasn't just changed the protagonist, but his terrifying villains, as well.

With this being one of many Spider-Man projects this year, fans are eating good. 7 James Addison Played by Jack Mikesell In the first entry in this series' episode catalog, audiences get to meet the one and only James Addison , who is an original character created specifically for Spider-Noir. However, despite this, he's not much to write home about when it comes to Addison.

He may have some sick fire powers, but he doesn't stick around long enough or do enough to be worth noting much. While Jack Mikesell does a great job as him for the small amount of time he's in it, James Addison simply doesn't get much of a chance to prove himself.

He doesn't even truly get to show off his powers, getting shot before he can truly jump into action, setting off a giant oil-fueled explosion. 6 Megawatt Played by Andrew Lewis Caldwell No, Megawatt is not an original character made for the show. Despite what some may initially believe—due to most assuming that an electric-based Spider-Man villain is typically Electro—Megawatt is actually a pretty niche character from the comic books.

This show is making him a bit more well-known now, though... but not for the reasons he'd probably hope for. However, he's only become more well-known because most people who watch the series are asking,"Why didn't they just use Electro?

" There are many ways that question could be answered, but the easiest is definitely the fact that this electrical baddie acts far differently than the typical adaptation of Max Dillon. Megawatt is far more of a showman, almost more of a Mysterio-type of character rather than the conniving, vengeance-driven kind of guy that audiences can see in other Spider-Man media. 5 Man-Spider Played by Dustin Ceithamer The biggest change to the Spider-Man Noir origin story from the comics is, without a doubt, how drastically the origin story changed.

Rather than getting his powers from a supernatural artifact filled with superpowered spiders that ended up biting him, he's bitten by none other than the one and only Man-Spider . This is a wild change from what Spider-Man fans are typically used to, but honestly, it's also a welcome one.

This character helps the origin not only feel unique, but the body horror aspect fits the darker tone of the series . He's terrifying—genuinely bone-chilling—and serves as a great addition to the origin story that sets this Spidey apart, and also is a great explanation for why his powers are slightly different from the others—different kind of Spider-Sense, organic webbing, etc. 4 Doctor Alethea Faber Played by Amy Aquino Compared to the rest of the villains in this show, Doctor Alethea Faber is by far one of the more unique.

What makes Faber feel somewhat different is the fact that, at the end of the day, she actually does mean well in one way or another. She's driven by her absolute need to save her son, but, in doing so, she does some wildly unforgivable things that cements her status as a villain, at the end of the day.

Complex villains are always so engaging to watch, and while the likes of someone like Megawatt are flashy and action-oriented, it's characters like Faber who can engage with just the drama they bring. Doctor Faber has hard ties to the protagonist and the villains, which makes her not just essential, but a cornerstone of the drama that comes about in the show.

She's a great representation of the"evil scientist" trope, while still having a complex character arc that allows the audience to understand her. COLLIDER. It is a spectrum — from the serene halls of the Jedi Temple to the shadowed corridors of Sith space. Ten questions will reveal where you truly fall. The Force has always known. Now you will too.

🔵Jedi Master 🟡Padawan 🔴Sith Lord ⚫Inquisitor ⚪Grey Jedi IGNITE YOUR SABER → QUESTION 1 / 10THE FORCE 01 What is the Force to you? Your relationship with the Force defines everything else. AA living energy I must be worthy of — it is not mine to control. BSomething vast and mysterious I'm only beginning to understand.

CNeither light nor dark — just a current I choose to ride. DPower. Pure and simple. The strong take it; the weak don't.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 2 / 10EMOTION 02 When you feel strong emotions — anger, grief, love — what do you do? The Jedi suppress. The Sith feed. Others choose differently.

AAcknowledge them, then release them. Attachment leads to suffering. BFeel them fully, then decide what to do — they're not the enemy. CBury them.

Emotion is a liability I can't afford to indulge. DUse them. Passion is the engine of the dark side for good reason.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 3 / 10AUTHORITY 03 The Jedi Council gives you an order you disagree with. You: How you handle authority reveals your alignment. AFollow it. The Council's wisdom surpasses my own perspective.

BVoice my objection clearly, then defer to the decision. CComply outwardly while doing what I think is right. DIgnore it. The strong don't answer to committees.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 4 / 10TEMPTATION 04 You are offered forbidden knowledge that could give you enormous power. The cost is crossing a moral line. You: The dark side's pull is never more than a choice away. ARefuse without hesitation.

There is no cost worth that price. BWeigh it carefully — sometimes darkness holds real answers. CFeel the pull but walk away — for now. DAccept it.

Power justifies the method used to obtain it. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 5 / 10TRAINING 05 Your approach to training and learning is: A student's habits become a master's character. ADedicated but humble. There is always more to learn from my masters.

BRigorous and patient. Mastery is earned through years of discipline. CEclectic — I draw from every tradition, not just one. DRelentless and brutal.

Pain accelerates growth. Rest is weakness.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 6 / 10COMBAT 06 In a duel, your lightsaber fighting style reflects: Combat is the purest expression of a Force user's philosophy. ADefense and composure — I wait for my opponent to overcommit. BFast and instinctive — I trust the Force to guide my movements. CUnpredictable — I blend styles to keep enemies off-balance.

DOverwhelming aggression — I end fights before they begin. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 7 / 10COMPASSION 07 A defeated enemy lies at your feet, powerless. You: Mercy — or its absence — is the truest test of alignment. AStrike them down — compassion toward enemies is naïve and costly.

BNeutralize them permanently. I can't afford loose ends. CSpare them if I can — but stay clear-eyed about the risks. DOffer them a chance to surrender.

Every being deserves that. NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 8 / 10ATTACHMENT 08 The Jedi Code forbids attachment. Your honest view on love and bonds: The source of the greatest falls in the galaxy. AThe Code is right.

Attachment clouds judgment and invites suffering. BLove is not a weakness — the Jedi Code got this one wrong. CI have no attachment — only loyalty to my master's mission. DI feel it deeply but struggle to reconcile it with my training.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 9 / 10PURPOSE 09 Why do you use the Force at all? What's the point? Purpose is the difference between a knight and a weapon. ATo learn.

I'm still figuring out what I'm capable of. BTo protect and serve. The Force is a responsibility, not a gift. CTo survive — and maybe carve out something worth having.

DTo dominate. Strength demands to be expressed, not contained.

NEXT QUESTION → QUESTION 10 / 10THE CHOICE 10 At the final moment — light side or dark side pulling at you — what wins? In the end, every Force user faces this moment. What does yours look like? AThe light.

I choose peace, even when darkness would be easier. BNeither fully — I carve my own path through the middle. CWhoever I serve — my loyalty defines me more than my morality. DThe dark.

Power is the only thing that's ever actually been real. REVEAL MY ALIGNMENT → Your Alignment Has Been Determined Your Place in the Force The scores below reveal how the Force sees you. Your highest number is your true alignment. Read on to understand what that means — and what it will cost you.

🔵 Jedi Master 🟡 Padawan 🔴 Sith Lord ⚫ Inquisitor ⚪ Grey Jedi JEDI MASTER Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty.

That is courage. PADAWAN You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though.

The question isn't whether you have what it takes — it's whether you'll be patient enough to find out. SITH LORD You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings.

But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side's cruelest trick is that it agrees with you. INQUISITOR You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest.

You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt?

You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you. GREY JEDI You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential.

The Jedi don't fully trust you. The Sith think you're wasting your potential. They're both partially right. But so are you.

↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ 3 Sandman Played by Jack Huston An unexpected standout for the series is, without a shadow of a doubt, Jack Huston's Flint Marko. Being the primary love-interest to Cat Hardy , the Sandman is depicted here in a way he's never been before. In the past, when Marko gets his sand powers, he typically has full autonomy and remains the same man he's always been.

This typically makes his villain status in other forms of media more intentional, villainizing him a lot more. The same can not be said here. When it comes to Spider-Noir's Sandman, though, Flint doesn't know how to control his mutations, and it begins to change his personality, making him a bit angrier. This makes the character feel more uncontrollable and like a lot more of a threat.

It's a whole new characterization direction for the villain, which feels fresh and new. While his powers are eventually taken from him, they were very cool while they lasted, and made his villainy feel unrestrained.

Viewers are on edge when he's on screen, never knowing when he could snap—like how he did when he was alone with Cat Hardy, which showed that no one is safe, not even her. 2 Tombstone Played by Abraham Popoola Despite being a less appreciated Spider-Man villain, the character of Tombstone has actually been all over Spider-Man media as of late. He's a main character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and is going to be a primary antagonist in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

No one expected him to make an appearance in Spider-Noir, though—but it's a very welcome surprise. Much like Doctor Alethea Faber, Abraham Popoola's Lonnie Lincoln is a lot more of a complex character than the rest. The emotion he brings to the plot is very well-executed, especially when he has his big heart-to-heart with Robbie Robertson and Janet Ruiz in Ben Reilly's office after hours.

The performance in that scene by the likes of Abraham Popoola was genuinely so moving, and almost immediately turned Lonnie Lincoln from a layered henchman into a deep and three-dimensional character the audience genuinely wants to see find the best in life. 1 Silvermane Played by Brendan Gleeson The big boss of Spider-Noir is none other than classic Spider-Man crime boss, Silvermane . Taking up the role that Kingpin or Tombstone typically have in a Spider-Man story, Silvermane runs the show around New York City in Spider-Noir.

If someone is bad, they're most likely in the pocket of Silvermane. This establishes a feeling of inevitability that keeps viewers from trusting anyone, especially when it's revealed that Cat Hardy is in with him. Brendan Gleeson does a phenomenal job bringing this character to life, giving him an aura about him that takes every single room he enters into a chokehold.

A presence like that is needed for any sort of crime boss villain in a superhero story, and Silvermane more than fits the bill, bringing this series to life in a better way than it would have without him. Because, if Prime Video was going to do a noir detective show, they needed a villain who could emulate that feeling that noir detective series/movies used to bring in their hayday.
