After spending years committing to his redemption arc and transitioning to being a hero, Venom's progress has been undone completely by Spider-Man.
The Amazing Spider-Man #35 – by Zeb Wells, Patrick Gleason, Marcio Menyz, Erick Arciniega, and VC's Joe Caramagna – finds Spider-Man, under the influence of the Green Goblin's psychotic persona, wreaking city-wide havoc, garnering media attention.

The Media Attributes Spider-Man's Destruction To Venom When Kraven the Hunter drives a spear through Spider-Man's body filled with the sins of Norman Osborn, Spider-Man becomes the new Green Goblin. In addition to trying to kill Kraven the Hunter, Mary-Jane Watson, and her boyfriend Paul, Spider-Man unleashes reckless abandon and unparalleled destruction across the Holland Tunnel. It's so bad that the news reports "we have to do something" about super-crime.
Eddie Brock's run as Venom is arguably Marvel's most notable redemption story. For all he's endured in the past, he's truly earned his status as a hero across the Marvel Universe. His good deeds as Venom have helped it easier for his successor, son Dylan, to transition into being a full-fledged hero. Comics like 2022's Ms. Marvel & Venom show how both the public, and other heroes, have accepted the Venom symbiote as a reformed good guy.
This Be Foreshadowing A Renewed Venom Vs. Spider-Man Feud People thinking Venom has gone bad again will only make Dylan's job as a hero harder, now that he's the symbiote's sole host. He most certainly isn't going to appreciate someone tarnishing the good name and reputation of Venom, as well as that of his father by proxy. This could eventually lead Dylan to confront Peter directly about the matter, potentially opening the door for a Spider-Man vs. Venom rematch.
