Spider-Man: Homecoming's credits joke aged poorly.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Spider-Man: Homecoming post-credits scene joke has become way worse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 5. Tom Holland's Spider-Man has become one of the most popular heroes in the MCU over the years, with the actor soon set to return for Marvel's Spider-Man 4, which still does not have a release date as the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes have paused work on the film.

Before getting the chance to star in his own Spider-Man movie, Holland made his MCU debut in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Despite being part of Iron Man's team after Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark recruited Peter Parker in his home, Spider-Man shared some interesting moments with Chris Evans' Captain America.

Homecoming Showed The MCU Needed To Cut Down On Post-Credit Reveals 5 Years Ago Spider-Man: Homecoming's post-credits scene joke saw Captain America appear to continue recording his PSAs to kids in schools across the country, which first made an appearance in the movie when Peter was in gym class. In the movie's second post-credits scene, Evans returned in his full Captain America costume from The Avengers to deliver a new speech about patience.

While there are some laughs to be had with the scene, Marvel's choice to make fun of its audience for waiting for post-credits scenes and then continue to have them in pretty much every movie rather than cutting down is certainly questionable.

The MCU's Post-Credit Revival Makes Sense - But Has To Have A Limit With the end of the Infinity Saga, the MCU's Phases 4 and 5 have had to introduce many new characters to take over from the veterans that have left or are soon leaving the universe. Because of that, the MCU's post-credits scenes continuing makes sense; however, Marvel needs to understand that there is a limit.
