The talented Scotland youth international has chosen Arsenal over Glasgow's big two
Celtic and Rangers are set to miss out on St Johnstone kid Callan Hamill, who is reported to have rejected their advances in favour of a move to Arsenal.
Hamill is a Scotland youth international and still just 15, he isn't eligible to pen professional terms until his 16th birthday in March next year. The centre-back is viewed as one of the top Scottish talents of his age group and has been training intermittently with Arsenal, where he is thought to have impressed academy manager Jack Wilshere.
Both Rangers had Celtic had shown an interest in taking him to their academies but The Athletic now say he has his sights set on a move down south. It's claimed he will remain at St Johnstone for the season ahead, before making the move to London next summer after he's turned 16. It is noted that the move isn't 'guaranteed' with other top English clubs keen, but Arsenal are the firm favourites for his signature.
It's further reported that St Johnstone would only have received around £33,000 in compensation had Hamill stayed within Scotland. But a cross-border will see them bank more than £110,000 - music to their ears, then, that he appears to have chosen a move to the English Premier League.
