Special Aidilfitri airfares for public varsity students FMTNews
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook says only business class tickets are left but the government will help students buy them at a cheaper rate.
PETALING JAYA: The government will announce special Aidilfitri flight ticket prices for students at public higher learning institutions soon, says transport minister Loke Siew Fook. He said this involved students from Sabah and Sarawak furthering their studies in the peninsula as well as those from the peninsula studying in East Malaysia.
Despite the increase in the number of flights and larger aircraft capacity, Loke said, the airlines could still not meet the high festive demand. “To return home to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, only high-priced business class tickets are left. We will have a plan for students with government subsidy,” he told reporters after breaking fast with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad employees here last night.
