House Speaker Martin Romualdez says the legislators of the 19th Congress filed the proposed Philippine sovereign wealth fund because they have the “political will” for it.
Romualdez, who is currently on an official trip to Brussels, Belgium together with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., justified to Manila-based reporters the decision to pursue the Maharlika Investment Fund Bill, which is embodied in House Bill No.6608.
“When I talk to foreigners and people in finance, and you know…development, they’re very excited because they say, ‘Wow that’s new, that’s great, you should have had one long time ago,'” he said. The MIF Bill was initially filed last Nov. 28. Romualdez, arguably the President’s top ally in legislature, is a principal author.
