Opinion: Speaker McCarthy hasn’t been so bad, after all
It’s been five months and Kevin McCarthy has been remarkably successful as speaker of the House.
Included in the bill are modest savings over the next decade, boosts to energy production and an attempt to get Congress to return to “regular order,” meaning actually going through the appropriations process instead of the periodic omnibus spending bills. Unfortunately, many House Republicans bucked and voted against the deal. And now, a few have spent the past week derailing Republican legislation.Many of the same people annoyed that the merits of the debt-limit deal are forgetting two things:
