Through Dec. 5, a total of seven homicides have occurred in West Seattle, which, according to SPD, is the same number of cases for all of 2023.
, crime statistics from the Seattle Police Department show West Seattle has tied 2023's homicide rate, which was the most number of homicides in at least a decade.
The most recent case occurred when a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in West Seattle Wednesday night. According to the Seattle Police Department, officers were dispatched to reports of screaming and gunfire on the 6400 block of 30th Ave. Southwest around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.When officers arrived, they found a teenage boy who had been shot in the abdomen.
While the number of murders has increased in West Seattle in the last few years, Seattle police were quick to say that nearly every homicide appeared to be an isolated incident.
