ENTERPRISE, Ala. - According to multiple sources, work crews ignited a fire that displaced nearly 100 residents of an Enterprise nursing home for military veterans. Those sources say sparks from one or more drills ignited the blaze, which continued to burn nearly 24 hours later at CSM Bennie G.
Adkins State Veterans Home, which cares for veterans in their later years. The fire spread through the ceiling above the kitchen area, making it difficult for firefighters to battle.While most are currently at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation, officials are discussing other arrangements, sources confirmed. Privately, some officials question how a $60 million newly constructed facility could burn, given safeguards. They don’t want to speak publicly until the fire is out and affected veterans settle into a more permanent situation.
