Spanish police, aided by agents from the FBI and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, boarded and seized a yacht owned by sanctioned Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg in Palma de Mallorca, according to a statement from Spain’s Guardia Civil police
since April 2018 for"operating in the energy sector" of the Russian economy. His Renova Group conglomerate owns interests in aluminum, oil, energy and telecom.on March 15, Vekselberg has not been sanctioned by the European Union. Spanish authorities carried out the operation on Tango at the request of the U.S. and under the direction of a local court in Mallorca, according to the Guardia Civil statement.
