Officers of the Spanish Fork Police Department said this incident began shortly after 2:15 a.m. on April 26 when a caller reported being stopped at a traffic light on Highway 6 near 800 North as another driver pulled alongside them and began staring. As the caller continued eastbound on Highway 6 to 2550 East, the suspect vehicle began following behind them and ramming into their vehicle.
Spanish Fork Police reportedly spotted the suspect vehicle near 600 East Canyon Road and conducted a traffic stop in the area of 400 East 300 South. The suspect then fled northbound on 400 East at a high rate of speed, and officers lost sight of the vehicle.Police then headed to the area of 400 North 400 East, where they found the suspect vehicle crashed into a large tree in the front yard of a home at 500 North 400 East.
The Utah County Officer Involved Critical Incident team is investigating the incident. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released pending notification of family members.
