Spain Wonderkid: I Brought My Homework To EUROs
Spain and Barcelona teenage phenomenon Lamine Yamal has made a surprising admission about having to take his homework to the 2024 UEFA European Championship.While most teenagers aged 16 are currently off school enjoying their holidays, the winger is set to play an important role in La Roja’s aspirations of winning a fourth European title.
This past season, the La Masia alumni enjoyed a breakout campaign for his boyhood club as he racked up the appearances for the Blaugrana. Yamal played a total of 50 matches for the Catalan giants in 2023/24, having only made one professional appearance the previous season. Now he is set to amass more caps for his national team at the continental showpiece in Germany, but he has admitted that his teachers may not be pleased with his expedition."I was watching the European Championship lying on the sofa with my mother.
His performances for Barca earned him his first national team call-up to Luis de la Fuente squad early last season as he became, not only the youngest debutant in the history of the illustrious football nation, but he was also the youngest-ever Spaniard to score a goal in an international fixture.He will be likely looking to make more history at this iteration of the continental football spectacle, starting against another powerhouse in Croatia in their opening match.
