Starship’s in-space refueling technology will play a key role in sending humans back to the moon for the first time since 1972.A NASA official recently announced that SpaceX is making strong progress with its Starship in-space refueling technology.
The first Artemis lunar landing mission will launch astronauts aboard an Orion capsule atop NASA’s Space Launch System . Refueling in orbit has never been achieved before for this type of spacecraft, meaning the process is one of the key challenges to overcome ahead of NASA’s next lunar landing. Since IFT-3, SpaceX hasn’t provided any updates on how the demonstration went. Now, Kshatriya has provided the first update, stating that the test seems to have gone well. While speaking at the committee meeting, Kshatriya said, “On Flight 3, they did an intertank transfer of cryogens, which was successful by all accounts.”
