This reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2024, before the Trump administration intervened.Justice Department sues major migrant children's shelter in Texas over sexual abuse claims The nonprofit, which has been a community fixture since 1987, operates 29 shelters across Texas, Arizona, and California, primarily assisting unaccompanied migrant children. However, the organization has recently been embroiled in controversy. Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services announced it would cease placing migrant children in Southwest Key Programs' shelters, citing concerns over the safety and well-being of the children.This administration is working fearlessly to end the tragedy of human trafficking and other abuses of unaccompanied alien children who enter the country illegally. For too long, pernicious actors have exploited such children both before and after they enter the United States. Today’s action is a significant step toward ending this appalling abuse of innocents. The New York Post's report further alleges that the organization placed children with unvetted sponsors who were involved in trafficking.on sexual abuse claims against Southwest Key Programs, said, "We're not spending money to protect kids." He emphasized the importance of compliance with federal laws, including those against sexual harassment. CBS Austin has reached out to Southwest Key Programs for a response to these allegations but has not yet received a reply.with the organization in 2018 after it was found to be separating families at the border.
