US Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the incident on the Southwest Airlines flight that was forced to return to Denver International Airport.

An engine cowling has fallen off a Boeing 737 -800 during take-off on a flight in Denver.A Boeing 737 has been turned around after its engine cowling fell off and struck its wing flap during take-off on a flight from Denver on Sunday local time.

Southwest flight 3695 returned safely to Denver International airport about 8:15am and was towed to the gate. The Boeing BA.N aircraft with 135 passengers and six crew members aboard had been headed to William P. Hobby Airport in Houston.Southwest said it was flying passengers on another plane to Houston approximately three hours behind schedule. Southwest said maintenance teams are reviewing the aircraft.

Boeing production has fallen below the maximum 38 MAX planes a month the FAA is allowing.
