Soccer star Lexi Missimo, previously an All-American at the University of Texas, is joining Dallas Trinity FC, marking a significant step in her professional career. Missimo, a highly regarded talent from Southlake Carroll, chose to play college soccer before signing with the professional team.

Lexi Missimo, a soccer prodigy from Southlake Carroll, is signing with Dallas Trinity FC, marking a significant milestone for women's soccer in the Dallas area. Missimo, the nation's No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2021, chose to attend college instead of turning professional immediately after high school, a path that could have led her to England's Manchester City or Arsenal WFC.

During her four years at the University of Texas, she excelled as an All-American midfielder, becoming Texas' all-time leader in career points (176), assists (64), and goals (56). She also tied for 10th in NCAA Division I history in career assists.Missimo's decision to play professionally in Dallas is a homecoming of sorts. The 21-year-old had numerous opportunities to play abroad, but she opted to stay close to home and contribute to the growing women's soccer scene in the region. Trinity FC, one of eight teams competing in the USL Super League, began its inaugural season in August. This move reflects a growing trend in women's soccer, with more and more elite U.S. teenagers being offered professional contracts. This fall, Dallas Trinity FC had seven high schoolers on its roster, showcasing the increasing talent pool in the sport.Missimo's journey to professional soccer began at a young age. She was a member of the U.S. under-16 national team at 14 and participated in 33 domestic camps and international events with various U.S. national teams from under-14 through under-23 age groups over the years. She even spent time training with World Cup players at Manchester City in 2019. This season, she was the only women's player in the SEC to score 10 or more goals and be credited with 10 or more assists (13), helping Texas reach the second round of the NCAA tournament. This follows a successful 2023 campaign where she recorded 26 goals and 20 assists. By choosing to play professionally in Dallas, Missimo follows the path of American soccer icons like Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Alex Morgan, who all played four years in college before achieving international success
