Photo: An Atlanta-based magazine called Cruise listed gay bars across the South. This edition from the early 90s features three Birmingham gay bars: Basics, After Dark, and The Quest. The Quest remains in operation today.There are other repositories of LGBTQ history across the nation. Another speaker during the conference is the ONE Archives Foundation Inc., which has been collecting materials for over half a century.
