Florida braces for freezing weekend with record cold remindersNo description availableSOUTHEAST GEORGIA – Extreme cold is expected to affect Southeast Georgia this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, which issued an extreme cold warning for the area.
Marcus Anderson, a Brunswick resident, said, “Turn my heat on and get up under the covers and watch the cartoons.”At Arte’s Pizza in downtown Brunswick, Jhoselynn Leyva said the cold temperatures have slowed business. “We’re just keeping our hopes up, see if people actually come in. If not, we’ll just stay back. Just keep opening the doors if anyone wants to come by.” When asked if she had supplies ready, Leyva said, “Yes, my family, we actually brought a lot of water, a lot of stuff we could cook if the light does go out or anything.”“It’s actually cold but last year we had snow for the first time since 1989, so at least it should be better than that but turn your temperature up, bring your animals in and stay warm.”Leyva said, “Honestly, I hope there is snow. We usually never get snow here, and last year was really fun, so I personally hope there’s a little bit of snow.”“I hope to never see it again. I hope you don’t see iguanas falling out of trees, and we need warmer weather,” Telford said. Glynn County Emergency Management is monitoring the situation closely.
