Ben Waterhouse says he experiences 'moments where you just don't want to go to work'.
Ben Waterhouse, who works for South Western Railway , said behaviour had worsened since the Covid pandemic.
His comments came as SWR launched a campaign aimed at stopping verbal abuse directed at its employees. Mr Waterhouse, from London, said: "Most of the time is fine, but you do occasionally get passengers saying things that are directed to you that hurt more than perhaps they should. Mr Waterhouse, who was part of the group that designed the campaign said: "I think it will help people think a little bit more about what am I actually saying? Why am I saying this? There's no reason for me to be saying this, so why am I saying it?

Gang of Suitcase Snatchers Steal £14,000 Worth of Luggage on RailwayA gang of sophisticated suitcase snatchers - including a mother and daughter - swiped luggage worth around £14,000 in a series of railway thefts. Nadezhda Ivanova, her daughter Gina Kalcheva and Mariana Petrova helped themselves to other passengers' luggage on an LNER line between Newcastle and Darlington. The trio were eventually traced because one victim had tracking software on her stolen iPad which showed where they were. Ivanova was jailed while Kalcheva and Petrova got suspended prison sentences at Newcastle Crown Court. The court heard how victims suffered huge disruption, stress and financial loss from the thefts. Vince Ward, prosecuting, said: "The offences all took place on the LNER rail system. Luggage was stolen from passengers on various trains between Newcastle and Darlington. Events are captured on CCTV at Newcastle and Darlington railway stations."
