Seattle Public Utilities is offering sandbags to residents, and in case of more flooding, they have six big pumps at the ready and staff on standby. SPU had a crew of three placing sandbags around the neighborhood on Thursday.A neighbor named Salvadore put up a barrier of dirt, sandbags, and other items to protect his home. His basement had at least 10 inches of water from the flood in Dec. 2022, leading to extensive water damage and mold.
Salvadore told KOMO News that the city reimbursed him for some of the damages and installed a grinder pump to prevent sewer backups, which was a problem at multiple homes along South Kenyon Street between 7th and 8th avenues.details when high tides are predicted in the South Park neighborhood and how people can sign up for flooding-related notifications.
