Council officers have developed the South Lanarkshire Council Armed Forces Community Covenant Strategy for 2024 to 2027 which is aligned to the Council Connect Plan.
South Lanarkshire councillors welcomed plans to launch an enhanced strategy to protect armed forces veterans.

Councillor Richard Nelson , welcomed the plans but asked to include extra support such as mental health, substance misuse and justice, councillors agreed to add this to the strategy. “This superb programme by ‘Who Dares Cares’ and other veteran charities through an SLA aids veterans who receive non-custodial sentences, It’s specifically designed to assist them in rehabilitation and integration into our communities.
