Mayor Georgine Welo and three at-large City Council representatives will be re-elected this fall as they do not face opposition. In Ward 4, however, there will be no candidate on the ballot.SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Mayor Georgine Welo and the three at-large City Council members who are up for re-election are unopposed as they seek re-election this fall.
“I went out and collected signatures and I submitted more than 150, but some were disqualified and I wasn’t able to get enough signatures,” Fahsbender said.He said he turned in about 152 or 153 signatures and was found to have about 140 valid signatures. “I was right up against the deadline and I wasn’t able to get out and get more ,” Fahsbender said. “This was the first time I was out to get signatures, so I didn’t really understand how long it takes.
“There is no one on the ballot for Ward 4, which is really unfortunate,” Fahsbender asid. “Council is going to have to appoint someone in January.”When asked if he would apply again for the position, Fahsbender, a lawyer, said: “I’ve been talking to the mayor and council president about that very thing. I don’t know.The person council appoints in January would be up for election in November 2025.
