Thomas-Jones, a junior from Saraland, was tended to on the sideline by South Alabama trainers and stadium medical personnel for some 10 minutes before being placed on a backboard. He had a pulse-monitoring device on his finger and was conscious as he was carted off the field. Thomas-Jones had a similar incident in 2020 while playing at Ole Miss, when he collapsed during practice and spent a night in the hospital. He later returned to the field with no apparent ill effects.
