Before he receives the Cinema Audio Society’s career achievement award, the veteran reflects on working with Chadwick Boseman and the importance of the Oscars craft categories.
He remembers Chadwick Boseman with respect and warmth. “Chadwick stayed in character, the whole movie. I never got to meet Chadwick until the very last day on, when I took the microphone off him, and suddenly it was Chadwick,” says Devlin. “He really had such a gentle quality to him and he impacted everybody on that set.
Having recently attended the Nominees Luncheon, he adds, “It’s a great year to celebrate some fabulous-sounding movies. Under [new exec director] Bill Kramer’s direction and [new board president] Janet Yang, I am very positive and look forward to what the Academy is going to be doing in the next 10 years and beyond.”
