Since making its debut, Sony’s PlayStation Portal has been notoriously difficult to come by. Thankfully, the handheld remote player is now available at several retailers for $199.
We may be out of the scarcity woods as it pertains to the PlayStation 5, but some of its accessories can still be hard to track down. Take the PlayStation Portal, for instance, which has been difficult to come by since it arrived on the scene in mid-November. Thankfully, Sony’s handheld remote player is available once again at Best Buy and Sony’s PlayStation Direct storefront, where you can currently pick it up for its full retail price of $199.99.
Its main purpose is to stream games via Remote Play, which requires a PS5 and reliable Wi-Fi network. We love what the Portal enables, but some curious technical choices can get in the way of your fun. For example, since wireless audio relies on Sony’s proprietary Link protocol, you can only use the Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite headset with it . Thankfully, it has a 3.5mm audio jack for using a pair of wired headphones, assuming you still have a pair lying around.
