The PS5 Pro may ship out as early as the end of this year, along with a US$499 price tag.
The Sony PlayStation 5 may have already been designated as having entered the 'latter stage' of its lifecycle by its parent company, but a Pro version of the console has yet to grace us with its presence, as tradition would dictate. On that note, we may not have to wait too long for the souped-up console to make its debut, if recent rumours are to be believed.
According to popular rumour monger, Moore's Law is Dead , the YouTube channel put forward the rumour that Sony may release the PS5 Pro during the end of year holidays. In addition, the Japanese gaming brand may allegedly price it at US$499 , which is slightly more expensive than the PS5 Slim in Malaysia that starts from RM2,069.
Specs-wise, earlier rumours suggest that the PS5 Pro will be fitted with an APU that is built on the 4nm process. On that note, it will still be based on AMD's Zen 2 architecture, along with eight cores, 56 Compute Units , 16GB GDDR6 memory, and a 256-bit memory bus. Beyond the topic of the PS5 Pro, MLID also briefly spoke about the upcoming Sony handheld console, although the discussion in the podcast was pretty barren with details. At this stage, it's very unlikely that we'll be hearing much else on the topic for at least another few years.
