Talay Riley, a songwriter who worked with some of music’s biggest names, has died at age 35 from a fatal stabbing. Police said officers were called on Friday, June 5, to reports of a stabbing in Pankhurst Avenue, east London.
Emergency services attended and found a man with multiple stab wounds in the garden of a property on Rayleigh Road. Two men, ages 27 and 24, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested near the alleged crime scene in connection with the murder. Another victim, a man in his 20s, also suffered stab wounds and remains hospitalized with reportedly non-life threatening injuries. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder investigation.
Riley, whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, was a British singer-songwriter and Grammy-winning hitmaker who collaborated with major pop stars like Dua Lipa, Usher, Craig David, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Nick Jonas, Khalid, Kehlani, and H.E. R.. Paying tribute to Talay, his family said, “Mark was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He brought love, light, and joy to our family and to all who knew him. We will always cherish his kindness, beautiful spirit, and remarkable talent.
