Complaints of some Tesla drivers being locked out of their cars echo the fear that there might not be a reliable backup if sophisticated computer systems go down or can't connect to the internet, turning a vehicle into a 'brick.'
Tesla CEO Elon Musk musk tweeted Friday night that the problems were in the process of being addressed and blamed the issue on network traffic.for owners and fans turned up at least dozens of similar complaints about seeing an error message, although NBC News had not verified the authenticity of the complaints. Not all of them said they were locked out.
A representative for the automaker did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and it was not immediately clear how widespread the outage was.
