Some parks close as heavy rain pounds Northern California

As the heaviest rain of the atmospheric river takes aim at Northern California, a number of parks will be closed.

, an off-highway spot with more than 80 miles of ATV and motorcycle trails, is also closed. The park closes for a minimum of 12 hours if the park sees half an inch or more of rain within 24 hours.

Before heading out this holiday weekend, be sure to check the forecast. The National Weather Service's Bay Area office is asking drivers to reconsider nonessential trips, as heavy rain and gusting wind may create dangerous driving conditions. The worst of the storm is expected to taper off on Saturday night, with rain returning to the forecast on Monday.
