player ready... San Diego County will experience some of the hottest weather it could get this summer, Tuesday through Thursday, when temperatures rise into the low 80s at the coast, upper 90s and low 100s in inland valleys, and 113 to 114 in the desert, the National Weather Service says.
Much of the heat will arise from the monsoonal moisture that moved into the county Monday afternoon, sparking lightning near Warner Springs. An extreme heat warning will be in effect Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecasters say the worst heat will occur on Wednesday when the temperature hits 101 in Ramona and Campo, 98 in El Cajon, 96 in Escondido, 94 at Palomar Mountain, 92 at Mount Laguna, 88 in Mira Mesa, 82 in Oceanside and San Ysidro, and 81 in San Diego. The dew point will rise into the 64- to 69-degree range in San Diego and other cities, with humidity making it hard for some people to fall asleep.could develop south of the tip of Baja California later this week, says the National Hurricane Center.
It’s not clear whether the system would follow a path that would send strong surf to San Diego County.
