Patients registered with those offering extra hours will be able to make an appointment if they need urgent care.

In a bid to give patients more time to receive the care they need over Christmas and New Year, many practices will be open on extra days as well as on Saturdays throughout January.

"If anyone requires care and their GP surgery isn’t available, they should call NHS 24 on 111 to access out-of-hours care.
