JOHANNESBURG -Democratic Alliance Gauteng chairperson Solly Msimanga says the party needs a diverse leadership that will address the issue faced by South Africans.
Msimanga was speaking to the media at the party’s 2023 federal congress, where its new leadership structure was elected.- DA congress: More than 80 proposed Constitutional amendments up for discussionThis was despite most DA leaders occupying top positions in the internal leadership structures running campaigns for another term.
Msimanga said the congress was mandated to ensure the party represented people from different backgrounds and cultures, even as leader John Steenhuisen criticised "identity politics" in an address on Sunday. “We are going to have leaders that have the mandate to drive the 2024 campaign, and also to ensure that going forward, they zoom in on the message of the Democratic Alliance,” said Msimanga.
