Supplemental Security Income recipients only need to wait less than three weeks before receiving their $841 monthly payments.

Couples who are eligible for SSI will also receive their regular payments of $1,261 on Dec. 1, while essential persons, or those who live with people receiving SSI and give them necessary care, will receive payments of $421 at the beginning of next month, according to the Social Security Administration's schedule. The SSA sends out SSI payments on the first of every month.

December will be one of the months in which recipients of SSI receive two payments in the same month, as it will make up for the months in which no payments are sent out due to the 1st of a month falling on the weekend or a holiday. The other months in which this occurred earlier this year were April and September.

The SSA began issuing SSI payments to eligible individuals and couples in 1974, according to the agency.Social Security payments are set to increase by 8.7% next year, and SSI will get a considerable boost of $73 per month in 2023 from the payments in 2022, resulting in the $841 amount increasing to $914 next year. The increase marks the highest cost-of-living adjustment in 40 years, with the last increase being 11.2% in 1981.

Couples on the program who receive about $1,261 a month will also get a boost up to $1,371, according to CNBC.
