Social Security Announces Plans to Change Applications

The Social Security Administration is set to move the SSI application process online, with the first step to be taken in December.

Applying for Supplemental Security Income is expected to become easier for some Americans who will be able to do so online, starting in December, as announced by the Social Security Administration on Tuesday.Under the changes, first-time applicants aged between 18 and almost 65 who never married and are concurrently applying for Social Security benefits and SSI will have access to a fully online, streamlined iClaim application process.

The agency is planning on expanding the online application process to all applicants by late 2025.
