A school in Melbourne ’s southeast was plunged into lockdown over a chilling threat against a teacher posted on social media alongside an image of a gun. On Wednesday morning, staff and students at St Bede’s College in Mentone were put into lockdown at 8.25am as part of a police operation. The lockdown ended at 9.40am and police attended the all-boys school as a precaution. Officers confirmed they were investigating a threatening social media post reported at 11pm on Tuesday.
St Bede’s principal Deb Frizza described the post as “very concerning”. She said the individual who made the post did not attend St Bede’s. “We’ve been told it is not somebody connected with the St Bede’s community,” she told 7NEWS. “I think police are looking at all schools in the area, and they were checking us and what they found out in that hour they were with us is that it looked like it was not linked to St Bede’s College.” It is not yet known to whom the post was directed.
