Belly up to a sober bar Yes, there are bars that don’t serve booze. In fact, they are a growing phenomenon, and naturally, they’re great places to party on March 17 without feeling pressured to drink alcohol. Examples include Listen Bar in New York City, Sans Bar in Austin, Texas, and Ocean Beach Cafe in San Francisco.
Brew up an whiskey-free Irish coffee If your preference is for cocktails over beer, you’ll find no shortage of nonalcoholic spirits on the market, such as zero-proof whiskey. And you can use such a sip to make an Irish coffee, says Hilary Sheinbaum, author of “The Dry Challenge,” a book about going booze-free. In general, Sheinbaum says, there’s no reason to give up your favorite cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day or any other occasion.
