The Xbox Series X was priced at $500 via different leak, also releasing on November 10.
No matter how much they may have smiled publicly, dismissing thoughts of a coming “console war,” Microsoft was always, always going to be going for Sony’s throat with pricing this generation after being embarrassed with the $100 price difference between the PS4 and Kinect-focused Xbox One at launch. And that’s exactly what they’ve done with both of these prices.
And outside of pricing, Xbox is not in the strongest position this fall now that Halo Infinite has been delayed, quite literally the definition of a system seller.The case is strong for Xbox at these prices. For $300, the Series S can do practically everything other next-gen consoles can do except ignoring things that aren’t even all that important like 4K. It has a small hard drive and no disc drive, but for $300, that’s probably worth the sacrifice.
