The pub dates back to the 1700s
A snug pub with "great pints" and a fascinating history sees people from across Liverpool and beyond travel to visit every day.
"A lot of building work was done because it was damaged in a fire. The brewery did it up, building work was compete and we moved in before it was ready to open. I think it’s always kept a quite similar atmosphere. Kev Jones posted: "Been here hundreds of times. Lovely little pub on the banks of the Mersey in Penketh. Great in summer or winter as they have coal fires, really cosy." Christine Stone commented: "Lovely pub and a lovely warm place in winter after nice walk and dog friendly."
"It's called Fiddlers Ferry because this was the narrowest point between Warrington and Runcorn. There used to be a Ferryman crossing here and the Ferryman was always the licensee of the pub. "It does feel quite rural here because we’re lucky to have the view over the river looking over all the moor land and behind us we have the Sankey canal and the trans Pennine Trail so you can feel a million miles away." Jade said: Even in the winter. it’s a nice location with the log fires and people come here because they want to come here, they have to trudge through snow and wind and the rain.
