Snow-laden storm could produce white-out conditions on Interstate 8 in eastern San Diego County
A fast-moving Pacific storm will spread showers across San Diego County on Monday and intensify on Tuesday, bringing heavier rain and a combination of fierce winds and snow that could produce white-out conditions on Interstate 8, east of Alpine.
The National Weather Service says the storm, which is very cold, will generate potentially damaging winds that will gust 60 mph to 70 mph through mountain passes and some foothill areas. The winds will start blowing onshore before dawn Monday, increasing the marine layer and keeping temperatures from rising above 61 in San Diego. It’ll be slightly colder on Tuesday. And temperatures will reach only the mid-50s on Wednesday.
