Glasgow has snow, ice, thunder, rain and wind warnings galore in place this week - so we've broken down the forecast ahead of Storm Bert's arrival this coming weekend.

The Met Office has issued another weather alert predicting snow for the whole of Scotland as temperatures continue to hover around 0 degrees - and there's a storm on the way too.

The alert mentioned Glasgow, although the corresponding map showed a ‘horseshoe’ around the city, with surrounding areas like Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire bearing the brunt of the white stuff. Will Glasgow see any snow after days of weather forecast promises? Well, we hate to burst your bubble if you had a snowman design in mind, but the forecast for the city shows little sign of snowfall so far, although temperatures remain chilly today and tomorrow with highs of just 4°C.

And what about Storm Bert? Glasgow may not see much snow, but we will apparently get an early morning thunderstorm on Saturday. There’s currently a 95% chance of thunder and heavy rain predicted around 6-9am when temperatures are still hovering around 2-3°C before rising to a much warmer 10°C by Sunday morning.

“Heavy rain through Saturday and Sunday, especially in southern and western parts of the UK, will also bring impacts for some with a number of warnings in place. We expect 50-75 mm of rainfall quite widely within the warning areas, but in excess of 100mm is possible over high ground in parts of Wales and southwest England.
