Snow shuts down Enterprise.

It started with a few flurries at about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and by afternoon, all city roads in Enterprise were covered with snow enough to be officially closed until Thursday morning. “Out of an abundance of caution and due to the expected severe winter weather, all city of Enterprise roads will close effective 2:30 p.

m. Tuesday and remain closed until 9 a.m. Thursday,” came the word from Enterprise Mayor William Cooper’s office. “All city facilities, including city parks, are closed to the public. All citizens are encouraged to stay home. “Unnecessary travel is strongly discouraged in an effort to aid our first responders’ ability to do their job efficiently,” Cooper said. “If you must travel, slow down and buckle up. Leave extra space between vehicles. Report traffic crashes and other emergencies by calling 9-1-1. Emergency responders will arrive as soon as they are safely able to do so.” People are also reading… Cooper’s words echoed those from the Coffee County Emergency Management Agency Director Grant Lyons and Dale County Emergency Management Agency Director Willie Worsham who sent out an alert that effective Tuesday 1:30 p.m., all roads and bridges in Coffee County and Dale County, respectively should be considered impassable until further notice. “Members of the general public are advised that when roads and bridges become impassable, all travel should be suspended or delayed,” Lyons said. “Only emergency vehicles should travel on county roads and bridges until further notice.” All city of Enterprise offices closed at noon Tuesday, to allow employees the opportunity to get home and make any final preparations for the expected wintry weather.
